Summer is well underway although the Northeast seems to be, once again, in a cool trend. That is fine with me! It is much easier to garden when it is cool and the flowers last much longer. I have to confess that I didn't garden too much this weekend. The Equipment Manager and I had the pleasure of hosting a cookout to celebrate a pending arrival and it was a gorgeous day to show off the garden. I managed to find pink and blue flowers for an arrangement. Pictured above are Lilium 'Lollipop', Pink Baby's Breath and Endless Summer Hydrangea. The Japanese Iris are blooming and we had some added guests in the garden. This dolphin swam all day above the garden bobbing and weaving in the air.
Today was clear, cool and very sunny I managed to pick vegetables from the garden. The peas are ready, as are the broccoli and basil with one small pepper for flavor and a few nasturtiums for flavor and color added to the salad. I need to put a clothespin on the cauliflower to keep it nice and white and that should be ready in a couple of days. Here is a picture of the bounty! I need to plant another row of green beans as germination was a bit spotty with the first batch. I do plan on planting carrots and turnip when the peas are done in a couple of weeks. That is the plan anyway. I hope you all had a great weekend! What did you accomplish?
